Specialty Diver

  • Search and Recovery

    In this course you will learn how to plan a search based on facts gathered about a lost object prior to the dive, locate objects using various search patterns, use a lift bag for large or heavy objects, plus other recovery methods, swim search patterns using your compass and natural navigation. Four dives required.

    You will need basic scuba equipment, a compass and underwater slate.

    You must be at least 12 hours old, have a PADI (Junior) Advanced Open Water certification. PADI (Junior) Open Water divers with a PADI Underwater Navigator Certification also qualify.

  • Underwater Navigator

    This course teaches you to more accurately use your compass underwater and fine-tune your observation skills.. You will learn methods to estimate distance underwater, do compass navigation while making multiple turns, underwater map making and marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface. Three dives required.

    You must be 10 years or older and have your PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification).

  • Night Diver

    When the sun goes down, the day creatures retire and the nocturnal ones emerge. It’s an entirely new scene underwater. In this course you will learn light handling and communication techniques, identifying how plants and animals differ or change their behavior at night, entering, exiting and navigation in the dark. Three dives required.

    You will need a dive light and basic scuba equipment.

    You must be 12 years or older and have a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification).

  • Peak Performance Bouyancy

    This course will improve the buoyancy skills you learned as a new diver and raise them up to the next level. You will learn to determine the exact weight you need, so that you’re not too light or too heavy. Streamline to save energy, use air more efficiently. Trim your scuba gear and weight system so you’re perfectly balanced in the water. Two dives required.

    You must be 10 years or older and have your PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification).

  • Enriched Air Diver up to 40%

    Nitrox contains less nitrogen than regular air. Diving on nitrox gives you more bottom time and shorter surface intervals. In this course you will learn how to safely dive with nitrox, use an oxygen air analyzer and set your dive computer. No dives required.

    You must be 12 years or older and enrolled in the Open Water Diver course.

  • Deep Diver

    Learn to scuba dive with confidence at depths down to 130 feet. You will learn to manage your gas supply and deal with nitrogen narcosis, do deep dive planning, go over buddy contact procedures, safety considerations and buoyancy control. Four dives required.

    You must be 15 years or older and have your PADI Adventure Diver (or qualifying certification).

  • Boat Diver

    In this course you will learn boat diving procedures and etiquette, how to enter and exit and where to stow your gear. You will learn boating safety, including how to locate safety equipment. Two dives required.

    You will need basic scuba equipment, surface signaling device (safety sausage).

    You must be at least 10 years old, hold a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level-certification).

  • Drift Diver

    In this course you will learn drift diving techniques and procedures. You will get an overview of aquatic currents- causes and effects, be introduced to drift diving equipment - floats, lines and reels. You will practice buoyancy control, navigation, communication and methods for staying close to your buddy as you drift along. Two dives required.

    You will need basic scuba equipment, a surface marker buoy and floats with lines and reels.

    You must be at least 12 years old, hold a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or qualifying entry-level certification).

  • Wreck Diver

    Wrecks are fascinating to explore and teem with aquatic life. In this course you’ll learn safety considerations for navigation and exploring wrecks, using penetration lines and reels to guide exploration, techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants, surveying and mapping a wreck. Four dives required.

    You will need basic scuba equipment plus a dive light to see into the wreck, a slate and underwater compass for mapping and navigation, and a line and reel for practicing wreck penetration.

    You must be 15 years or older, PADI Adventure Diver (or qualifying certification).

  • Underwater Videographer

    In this course you will learn how to maintain and care for your underwater video equipment. The course will cover fundamentals such as exposure, focus, story line and sequencing. Post dive, you’ll learn how to edit and produce a video that captures your scuba adventures. Three dives required.

    You’ll need basic scuba equipment, an underwater video camera, a computer with video editing software.

    You must be at least 10 years old and a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver.

  • Full Face Mask Diver

    Full face masks protect the eyes and nose from contaminants in the water, allow for communication, and provide comfort in cold water. Full face masks allow you to breath from your nose. These are used by working divers, such as public safety divers, scientific divers and divers venturing into extremely cold water. In this course you will learn how to make adjustments underwater and clear water out of the mask, properly prepare and check your mask for the dive, and respond to simulated out-of-gas emergency situations.

    You will need basic scuba equipment, a full face mask that fits you and works with a regulator. You will also need to have an alternate air source.

    You need to be at least 12 years old, and a PADI Open Water Diver.

  • Dry Suit Diver

    Dry suits seal you off from the water and keep you comfortable in cold water. This will allow you to extend your dive season and explore some of the world’s cooler regions. There are some incredible dives to be had in the nutrient rich waters of the Pacific Northwest! Two dives required.

    You must be at least 10 years old and certified as a PADI (junior) Open Water Diver or higher.

  • Public Safety Diver

    If you have the opportunity to work with local authorities and be part of a scuba diving rescue team, conduct search and recovery dives and maybe even underwater criminal investigations, this course is for you. You will be introduced to special procedures, scene handling, equipment, communications and documentation requirements . You will practice knot tying, arc search techniques, compass navigation, victim recover, rope-pull communications and rescue techniques for a distressed diver.

    You will need basic scuba equipment, gloves, dive knife, and at least two scuba tanks.

    You must be at least 18 years old and have a PADI Rescue Diver certification.
